Stepping Up
By Sara Mononen • Jan 16th, 2009 • Category: Year 7 - 8Today a whoosh! of change swept through both our class and the whole Green School community. This morning we had our first term two assembly in our new gymnasium. While it is still in need of some finishing touches, it made for a welcoming and expansive space in which to celebrate our togetherness and reflect on the many changes we’ve been through so far. We received our novel study packages today and had a ‘Giver’ inspired discussion about utopian societies. Could they really exist? Do we live in one now? How do we define ‘utopia’? Grade Sevens and Eights are going to be working in slightly different ways from here on in. We will be sending a newsletter home next week with more details on this change. On Fridays, we now have a study period at the end of the day. This is to give us a chance to finish up any work we may have missed, or are behind in. Today many of us chose to finish up our name signs. I have to say again, they are looking phenomenal. You’re shining bright Year 7/8! It’s wonderful to see!
